The Census of Private Schools has been conducted, since 1996. This census is the the ninth one in a series of censuses conducted annually. This census provides valuable information about private schools and teachers to policy makers, planners and researchers..
The questionnaire is filled by Principals of the schools and it contains following parts.
- Identification information about the school
- Details about the school children
- Details about the disabled students
- Deatils about students by subjects and the grade of study
- Details about the teachers

The Ministry of Education has conducted an uninterrupted series of annual private school census for well over four decades.
