Statistics of numbers employed, mandays worked and paid for, normal and overtime man hours and the total wage bill earnings etc, are collected. The base for selection constituted all the establishments which came within the purview of the Employment Survey. These establishments which are classified into 22 industry strata have been set up to give estimates of sample data for each industry stratum, with a 5% error at 95% confidence limits. All establishments with over 100 employees for 18 industries and with over 1000 employees for industries ( defined to be the cut-off point ) were included in the survey whilst employees the rest were subjected to sampling., such that the sample would be of optimum in size. In all around 1600 sampling units were selected for the survey for June 1985 and of this number 1300 units were sent for data processing.
