The survey also provides information on hours worked, and reasons for unemployment and nonparticipation in the labour force. The scope of coverage includes all households in Sri Lanka. \nThe list of housing units created for Population Census - 2001 were taken as sample frame.  Sample lists were selected from the above frame taken as Primary Sampling Unit (PSU).  A systematic Sample of 10 housing units per PSU was selected on final sampling units. \nThe total annual sample size is 16,000 housing units, distributed as 400 PSUs per each quarter and 10 housing units (SSUs) per PSU.  The allocation to the domains aims at ensuring approximately equal of reliability from domain to domain. \nThe 1600 Census Blocks were selected by PPS systematic Sampling.  A listing operation was conducted in each selected PSU to provide a frame for the second stage of selection. The agreement form should be filled in triplicate and the Study\/project proposal should accompany the filled agreement form. If requests are made for the micro data of more than one survey, a separate agreement should be signed.\n\n\u30fbIf the data request is from a student a letter from the respective Dept. Head\/Dean\/Supervisor, recommending the issue of data, should also be accompanied.\n\n\u30fbThe released Data file should be used only for the specific study\/Analysis mentioned in the agreement form and shall not be used for any other purpose without the prior approval of the Director General of the DCS. Moreover, Copies of the micro-data file, obtained from the DCS, shall not be given to anyone else without the prior written approval of the Director General of the DCS.\n\n\u30fbThe draft report of the Study\/Analysis should be submitted to the DCS and the concurrence of the DG, DCS, should be obtained before publishing it.
